Trends We Are Loving For 2024

While we at DUET don’t design based on trends, we see them constantly on social media. With the constant onslaught of content, it can be hard to distinguish what you like versus what you are being told to like. We wholeheartedly believe that your home should be yours - your taste, your style, what you like, and what functions for you, regardless of what is trendy or what everyone else is doing. With that being said, below are the trends we have seen for 2024 that we can get behind.

“Quiet Luxury”

We feel like the “quiet luxury” trend is one that has been ingrained in the way we have designed since the beginning of Duet Design. “Quiet Luxury” is a focus on classic pieces, whose silhouettes and lines aren’t trendy - they’re timeless. Reupholstery allows these pieces to ebb and flow with various designs and times, but the bones of the piece remain. Combined with rich woods and luxurious fabrics, these investment classic pieces are the epitome of quiet luxury and help to create a comfortable, lived-in space that will stand the test of time - and trends.

Warmth

This year we are pulling away from cooler tones, instead leaning into the warmth and softness that the warmer tones bring. Brown is the color of the year for us and we are so excited about it. Cooler tones being out does not necessarily mean traditionally cooler colors are. We will still be using our beloved blues and greens throughout our designs, but this year we are focusing on the shades that have warmer undertones. We may even throw in some red! Make sure you subscribe below to see what we do with color this year.

Artisanal, Bespoke, and Vintage Pieces

The increase of the use of artisanal, bespoke, and vintage pieces in design is one we are especially excited about. In our eyes, artisanal and vintage pieces are a two birds/one stone scenario. On one hand, you get a one of a kind piece that is unique and incredibly crafted. On the other hand, the environmental impact of either having a custom piece that will stand the test of time, meaning you will not have to repurchase, or you are extending the life of a beautiful vintage piece and keeping it out of a landfill, thus reducing unnecessary waste, is a victory in itself. When possible, we are huge supporters of purchasing custom or shopping secondhand. Stay tuned for a future blog post of our favorite places to shop secondhand for furniture.
