Meet Lindsey & Shanda
We've been designing together since design school, and after 13+ years of partnership, we've learned this: the best homes are the ones that work as beautifully as they look.
We specialize in full-scale renovations and new construction for homeowners who value thoughtful design at every stage, from construction drawings to the last detail.
Our dual training in both interior design and architecture means we solve problems at every stage of the process, not just the pretty parts.
Our Approach
We start by listening. How do you actually live? What frustrates you about your current space? What would make you never want to leave? Then we design around your real life—kitchens that handle weeknight chaos and holiday gatherings, living rooms built for actual living, primary suites that feel like a retreat.
We're embedded with contractors from day one because we believe design and build are part of the same conversation. The details matter: antiques with history, natural materials that age beautifully, bold choices when they're the right call. The result? Spaces that feel effortless, collected, and completely yours.
We're based in Richmond, Virginia, but work with clients throughout Virginia, Washington, DC, North Carolina, and beyond—partnering with the best architects, builders, and artisans to create homes that stand the test of time. The best part? Many of our clients come back for second and third projects. Some of our longest relationships started with a kitchen renovation.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
An interior designer’s focus is the form and function of a space. They partner with clients to achieve a desired aesthetic and design that enhances their lifestyle. Designers collaborate with other professionals—like architects and contractors—as needed, based on the type and scale of the project. Architects’ expertise is in building and structure, so they will be on the project team for additions or new builds. We love space planning and, in partnership with a structural engineer, can relocate interior walls. A contractor will build from the design plans created by the architect and/or designer.
-
The most important thing to know is that working with an interior designer can be a rewarding, stress-free process. In addition to helping you create a beautiful home, designers can also help you define a budget and the scope of your project. They also have the connections and recommendations to help you hire the right contractors to complete the work.
-
Full service interior design is a turn-key service that takes the project from concept to completion. We take care of every detail—from sourcing items to working with tradespeople and coordinating orders and deliveries. At the end, we install the new design and all that’s left for you to do is enjoy your new space.
-
After the inquiry form is received, we will contact you to schedule a complimentary 20 minute phone call to further review your project. If we're a good fit, we move to an in-home consultation or Google Meet for out of town clients. We talk through the details of timeline, budget, and specific concerns to create a complete scope of work. We use this information to craft a proposal unique to your project. We then present our proposal including our plan for executing the design, budget and timeline.
-
Each project presents its own unique challenges. After our initial discovery call, we will provide a proposal where we review the scope of the work, the budget, and timeline. Our design fees are based on these factors.
-
We are a full service design firm and we typically work on projects that encompass 3+ rooms with furnishings, flooring finishes, lighting, and accessories. Nevertheless, our service can accommodate smaller-scale projects.
-
Every project is different, but a typical timeline for a furnishing project ranges between 6 - 9 months.
Renovation and building projects can last a year or more.
-
We present all the details during an in-person presentation or Google Meet.
We provide as many samples as possible and walk you through the proposed design.
Revisions are a built-in to the design process. We love client feedback and are always open to amending the design to be exactly what you envisioned.
-
Of course! Our job is to create beautiful designs, taking into consideration the client’s perspective, lifestyle, and goals for the home. We love hearing about the way you live in your home. It is a collaborative process, and nothing is more satisfying for us than creating a space that genuinely represents our clients lives and stories.
