Behind the Scenes: Glenmore
Our Glenmore Road Project made its debut on our website a few months ago, but we wanted to give a peek behind the design curtain. This home saw a complete overhaul - no space was left untouched. The project consisted of a whole home renovation with an addition, along with furnishings and styling to finish.
Informal Dining + Sitting Area
The informal dining space felt dated due to the large amount of orange-toned wood combined with the red brick. For the new informal dining space and sitting area, we wanted to maintain the beautiful brick fireplace, without it overwhelming the space as it used to. The paneling detail above the mantel and blue-gray cabinetry flanking the fireplace helps to soften the brick and balance the brick’s reddish tone. We included timeless furniture pieces, including a large custom table, and classic lighting to round out the design, transforming the space.
Kitchen + Pantry
The existing kitchen had three large out of place arches and a layout that made the kitchen feel constricting and hard to work in. The new kitchen design utilized square footage from the addition, which provided the space the kitchen needed to have improved circulation around a custom island with seating and open storage. The incredible window above the sink gives our client amazing views and brings natural light into the entire first floor, something the home was missing before the renovation.
Office + Formal Dining
The formal sitting room and formal dining room needed an update - we aren’t going to talk about the drapes - and the formal sitting room needed to function differently for our clients. The formal sitting room became a home office, with custom cabinetry designed to hide printers, cords, and other office supplies. With new lighting, furniture, and accessories, the space now feels calm, inviting, and like a space we wouldn’t mind working from. The formal dining room was updated with a small patterned wallpaper, a beautiful new pendant that feels classic but sleek, and a large vintage rug that ties the dining room into its adjoining spaces.
Living Room
The living room initially featured an outdated brick fireplace with uneven openings for the wood-burning firebox and wood box, along with a mantle that didn't complement the room's new layout. The space lacked functional storage solutions and connection to the outdoors, leaving it feeling cramped and disconnected. The adjustments made to the fireplace openings and mantle provided a perfect opportunity to integrate built in storage for books, family photos, games, and blankets, creating both practicality and aesthetic appeal. A window seat with 2 base drawers was added for additional toy storage, while a modern wall sconce added charm and task lighting, enhancing the versatility of the space for activities like gaming or bedtime reading. A soft white paint color lets the fireplace blend seamlessly into the background and allow other elements of the room to shine. The addition included a large screened-in porch accessible through sliding glass doors (to the left) which made the furniture layout a bit tricky. We maximized seating with smaller scale but largely comfortable swivel chairs, an extra-wide ottoman, and strategically angled side chair - without obstructing egress or the functionality of the cute built-in bench.
Primary Bathroom
By reimagining the floor plan, we expanded the primary bathroom but also incorporated two spacious walk-in closets, offering our clients the flexibility to potentially add a second-floor laundry room in the future. A new custom vanity and built-in linen cabinet added both functionality and sophistication, and the expansive glass shower enclosure kept the room light and bright without blocking the new window in the shower. The high-contrast basketweave marble mosaic flooring, gave the space a luxurious yet timeless feel, and modern lighting fixtures and mirrors were carefully chosen to illuminate and accentuate the room's depth and dimension.
